The Carbon Monoxide Alarm shall be powered by 120V AC 60Hz power source, and shall be listed at .09 Amps. The alarm shall have a digital display and meet sensitivity requirements per UL 2034. The digital display shall be capable of showing current CO levels, peak level, low battery and error function. When the unit is in alarm mode, the digital display will show the levels of CO, measured in parts per million. The sensor is adjusted not to detect CO levels below 30 PPM. This unit will not alarm when exposed to a constant level of 30 PPM for 30 days. It will alarm at the following levels under 30% to 70% relative humidity (RH):

  • 400 PPM CO between 4 and 15 minutes
  • 150 PPM CO between 10 and 50 minutes
  • 70 PPM CO between 60 and 240 minutes

The alarm shall be capable of operating properly between temperatures of 40°F (4°C) and 100°F (38°C) and relative humidity (RH) of 10% to 90%. The alarm shall have an 85dB electronic horn. In addition, the alarm shall have a red LED power and alarm indicator. A built-in test switch tests the alarm horn circuit and LED. The alarm shall automatically perform a self-diagnostic test approximately every second and be capable of displaying an error function if the alarm malfunctions. The alarm shall be capable of being tested or silenced remotely with most IR entertainment remote controls up to 12 feet. The alarm shall have a reset button that silences the alarm allowing residents time to take corrective action. If significant levels of CO are present after the initial silenced period, or if they continue to rise, the alarm will sound again. The alarm shall have an integrated plug that plugs into an 120V AC 60Hz outlet. It shall be listed to UL 2034. The Carbon Monoxide Alarm shall be a BRK Electronics Cat. No. FCD4CN-3, or pre-approved equal.
